Job summary

Sophie B. Wright Charter School is seeking a Golf Coach to lead the school’s golf program in New Orleans. This role oversees practices, games, player development, and the cultivation of a positive team culture.

Responsibilities include planning practices, developing skills, supervising athletes, ensuring safety, and promoting academics while communicating with families and staff and upholding LHSSA rules.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching and/or playing experience in golf preferred.
• Knowledge of golf rules, techniques, and training methods.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct effective practices and game strategies
• Develop student-athletes’ skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship
• Supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel
• Maintain compliance with school, district, and LHSSA rules
• Communicate with players, parents, and school staff
• Organize tryouts and team selection
• Ensure proper care and inventory of equipment and uniforms
• Promote academic success and positive behavior among athletes
