Job summary

Porter is seeking a lead barista to join our team at 560 Mission Street, San Francisco. You will prepare beverages, supervise fellow baristas, and ensure top-notch customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Role requires 5+ years as a barista, strong POS skills, and a commitment to food safety. Training is provided, with opportunities to lead, mentor, and grow within Porter’s hospitality concept.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.
• 5+ years of barista experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within hospitality or food service.
• CA Food Handler’s Permit required.
• Experience in both counter-service and full-service settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, blended coffee, and tea, to patrons; correctly customizes orders as requested.
• Describes product details to customers in partnership with Onyx coffee.
• Receives and processes customer payments.
• Serves prepared baked goods including pastries.
• Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
• Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
• Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
• Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
• Stocks supplies or retail products; inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Accurately handle POS transactions and orders, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in a high-paced setting.
• Maintain a friendly and engaging attitude while interacting with customers and fellow team members.
• Lead, coach and support barista team members during daily operations.
• Train new employees on drink preparation, customer service standards, and café procedures.
• Ensure consistency in beverage quality, presentation, and food safety standards.
