Job summary

Air Education and Training Command at Vance Air Force Base seeks a Lead Barista to help launch our new café experience. This part-time role (20–34 hours weekly) offers eligibility for Health & Life Insurance, a 401K plan, and PTO, with opportunities for pay increases based on performance.

The position requires experience in specialty coffee preparation, the ability to lead a team, and strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment with safe food-handling practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with specialty coffee preparation or similar activity.
• Ability to lead one or more workers to accomplish service duties.
• Follow written and oral instructions, work safely, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Adept at multitasking and time management.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning simple equipment and work area.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve specialty coffee beverages and maintain quality standards.
• Lead and supervise a small team to ensure smooth cafe operations.
• Follow standard recipes and procedures, and work efficiently under pressure.
• Maintain clean and safe working environment and equipment.
• Assist with opening/closing procedures and inventory checks.

Vance Air Force Base is excited to be opening a new coffee shop! Great coffee starts with great people, and we are seeking a Lead Barista to help launch our newest café experience. Part-Time (20 to 34 hours weekly) Eligible for Health & Life Insurance, 401K, and PTO Eligible for multiple pay increases over time, upon successful performance (Within-grade-increase). Access to base amenities (gym, childcare facility, golf, craft programs, and more!)

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:

• Must have experience in and knowledge of methods and procedures relating to specialty coffee preparation, or a similar activity.
• Ability to lead one or more workers to accomplish service duties.
• Must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions, work safely, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Adept at multitasking and time management.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food, and for cleaning simple equipment and work area.
• Must be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operate simple machines.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds, and occasionally over 30 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push and bend for long periods of time.

Physical Effort:

• Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 30 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions:

• High temperatures and humidity are created by steam and heat as drinks are dispensed and dishes are washed.
• Area is usually noisy and there is danger of slipping on wet floors or where food or beverage has been dropped.
• Exposed to hot liquids and hot working surfaces.
• Extreme temperature changes when pulling stock from freezer units.
