Job summary

Columbia Hospitality, Inc. is seeking a Lead Barista at Salish Lodge & Spa to craft hot and cold beverages and train teammates in beverage preparation.

You will greet guests, take orders, operate espresso machines, and maintain a spotless station, while ensuring accuracy in cash handling and inventory management. The ideal candidate has cafe or F&B experience, a barista certification preferred, and strong multitasking and hospitality skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cafe/coffee or food & beverage required.
  • Barista certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage presentation a plus.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to standards.
  • Greet guests, take orders, and provide product recommendations.
  • Operate coffee and espresso machines and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and monitor inventory/pars.
  • Handle cash, credit, and digital payments accurately; open/close registers as needed.

What Success Looks Like
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to standards
  • Greet guests warmly, take orders, and provide product recommendations
  • Operate coffee and espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including beverage stations, counters, and dining areas
  • Handle cash, credit, and digital payment transactions accurately. Dully open and close registers as necessary
  • Monitor inventory and create pars efficiently; keep track of invoices, food waste and pars
  • Restock coffee bar and serving stations with necessary amenities
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safely proccedures
  • Provide training for baristas, delegate tasks, coach, and hold staff accountable to standards
  • Address guest questions, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally
  • Place orders for bar back stock
  • Send daily recap email to Retail Manager
  • Responsible for updating signage and seasonal beverage menu
  • Make sandwiches and bake items during designated time slots
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures
  • Other tasks as assigned
What You Bring
  • Prior café, coffee, or food & beverage experience required
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Barista certification or completion of formal coffee/espresso training preferred
  • Knowledge of coffee preparation, brewing techniques, and beverage presentation is a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members
  • Basic math skills required for accurate money handling
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems for order taking and cash handling
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays as required
  • Necessary State Food Handler’s License(s)
