Job summary

The Catamaran Resort Hotel & Spa in San Diego seeks a Banquet Chef to lead and manage all banquet culinary operations, ensuring high-quality service for events and conferences.

You will train staff, work with the Executive Chef on menu development and costing, maintain sanitation standards, and schedule shifts while supporting weekend and holiday coverage. This full-time role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of progressive culinary leadership experience in high-volume banquets.
• Experience running shifts, scheduling, and day-to-day operations.
• Must be able to attain a San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the overall direction of culinary operations.
• Coordinates production and service of banquet functions from a culinary perspective.
• Develops and costs banquet menus with the Executive Chef.
• Trains staff to ensure the highest level of quality on a consistent basis.
• Maintains sanitation per Health Department and hotel standards.
• Instructs department personnel in safety and emergency procedures.
