Hy-Vee in Clinton, IA is seeking a Bakery Cake Designer to turn customer visions into edible art, from birthdays to weddings delivered and set up on site. You’ll apply creativity and decorating skills, manage daily orders, and lead part-time teammates to keep production flowing.

In this hourly role you’ll greet customers, take orders at the bakery counter, schedule production, and ensure accuracy on sizes, deco packs, icing, and dates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed

Responsibilities

• Greet customers, take bakery orders at the counter, and assist with needs throughout the store
• Check orders for the day, set up a timeline and production schedule, and check cake orders daily for details including size, deco pack, icing needs, and dates
• Decorate bakery items in a timely manner, keeping current on new designs and trends
• Develop daily bakery orders for bakers including cakes and sizes needed
• Lead part-time employees and coordinate with the Bakery Manager
• Participate in employee cross-training
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times
• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking product orders
