About The Job
We’re looking for a full-time Lead Baker to join our Residential Dining operations. The duties and responsibilities of this position will consist of 85-90% baking and 10-15% preparation. The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s experience in a high-volume baking position and at least two years’ experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
The Lead Baker must be able to keep pace with high demands and a large volume of bakery products, handling all aspects of cooking and baking responsibilities, including mixing ingredients, preparing batter, pouring the batter into molds, and baking it. They also decorate baked goods with icing and other garnishes.
More specifically, they will prepare menu items for South Dining Commons following standardized recipes according to forecasted demands. They will be responsible for opening and closing the bakery workstation and must be meticulous in maintaining a clean work environment following HACCP and ServSafe guidelines. Throughout the academic year, they may also assist in training and supervising part-time employees. Additional responsibilities as assigned by management may include, but are not limited to, assisting with other workstations, stocking, and general cleaning.
An exemplary Residential Dining candidate will naturally demonstrate job and industry knowledge, quality control, sound judgment and decision-making, problem-solving skills, effective communication, collaboration, and cooperation.
WORK AVAILABILITY
The Lead Baker is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, year-round. All candidates must have the ability to work an 8-hour shift between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, on a recurring weekly schedule.
No evenings. No Fridays. No Saturdays.
