Job summary

US Mobile is seeking an exceptional backend engineering leader: a hands-on manager who can build, grow, and guide a team of backend engineers while directly shaping our architecture and roadmap as we scale.

You will own the backend pod, hire and mentor engineers, influence technical direction, stay hands-on, and partner with Talent and Engineering leadership to scale to tens of millions of customers.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot and in a technical leadership or people management role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven ability to mentor backend engineers and influence architectural decisions at team/organizational level.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to represent backend engineering to executives and cross-functional partners.
• Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with message brokers like RabbitMQ or AWS SQS/SNS.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a backend engineering pod, hiring, mentoring, and growing a high-performing team as we scale.
• Shape technical direction, architecture, tooling, and roadmap decisions across backend systems.
• Stay hands-on—architect optimal solutions and ship features with your team.
• Scale our systems to tens of millions of customers and connected devices.
• Write clean, testable code with unit and integration tests and participate in system design and reviews.
