Job summary

Real Chemistry is hiring a Lead Engineer, Back End to drive the platform’s data model and services that power our omnichannel healthcare marketing platform. You will lead back-end architecture, grow the engineering team, and shape how data scales, remains reliable, and connects with surrounding systems.

You’ll collaborate with product, design, and data science to productionize models and ensure robust API contracts.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in back-end or full-stack engineering, including 2+ years leading a team.
• Experience leading a data model and access patterns for a B2B or enterprise product at scale, across relational and NoSQL stores.
• Track record hiring and growing engineers, and running a technical interview loop from scratch.
• Comfortable directing AI-assisted coding with human review when needed.
• Experience partnering with data science/ML teams to productionize models.
• Fluent in defining and maintaining API contracts across a team boundary.
• Able to thrive in a fast-moving, small engineering organization.
• Bonus: pharma or health-care marketing data experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the platform's application data model in Aurora and DynamoDB, and decisions behind it as the product scales.
• Define API contracts with front-end lead to evolve interface and data model together.
• Direct reliability, performance, and cost of back-end services with DevOps on platform-level non-functional requirements.
• Partner with data science to productionize models and recommendations.
• Hire and lead back-end and data engineers, upholding code quality and CI-enforced testing.
• Set standards for agentic coding and provide tool support from company investments.
• Collaborate with product and design on problem definition and sequencing of work.
