Job summary

Kforce Inc. is seeking a Lead Back-End Java Developer in Tampa, Florida.

The role focuses on designing and developing mission-critical Java back-end systems for warehousing and automation, with hands-on leadership across architecture, integration, and performance tuning. You will mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and collaborate with controls, automation, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable software solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Warehouse automation/material handling industry experience is required.
• Strong Java and JDK development experience.
• Experience with JMS and Java Servlets.
• Strong experience with SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or Oracle.
• Experience with TCP/IP and distributed/client-server applications.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, source control, and defect-tracking tools.
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and back-end application design.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills.

Summary: We're looking for an experienced Back-End Java Software Engineer to design and develop mission-critical applications supporting complex warehouse automation and material handling environments. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role focused on Java back-end development, system integrations, databases, distributed applications, and technical leadership. What You'll Do:

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
