Job summary

Kforce Inc. is seeking a Lead Back-End Java Developer in Tampa, Florida.

The role focuses on designing and developing mission-critical Java back-end systems for warehousing and automation, with hands-on leadership across architecture, integration, and performance tuning. You will mentor engineers, drive architecture reviews, and collaborate with controls, automation, and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable software solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Warehouse automation/material handling industry experience is required.
• Strong Java and JDK development experience.
• Experience with JMS and Java Servlets.
• Strong experience with SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or Oracle.
• Experience with TCP/IP and distributed/client-server applications.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, source control, and defect-tracking tools.
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and back-end application design.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Java back-end applications and services.
• Build reliable integrations between software applications, databases, and automated systems.
• Develop solutions using Java/JDK, JMS, Servlets, SQL, and TCP/IP.
• Work with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Troubleshoot complex application, integration, database, and production issues.
• Contribute to application architecture, technical design, code reviews, and development standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Collaborate with software, controls, automation, and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
