Job summary

Holthouse seeks a Staff Azure Cloud Engineer to own design and build of an Azure landing zone for a multi-year cloud modernization. This hands-on role requires writing code, managing Terraform modules, and delivering pipelines from week one while coordinating with IT, security and network teams.

You will lead cloud security, policy-as-code guardrails, and CI/CD for infrastructure changes, with experience across Azure networking, Entra ID, and Defender for Cloud.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in cloud infrastructure/platform engineering with production ownership.
• Well-rounded Azure Cloud generalist across Terraform/IaC, Azure networking, and security.
• Hands-on Terraform experience: module authorship, remote state, workspace strategy, version pinning.
• Strong Azure networking and security: hub-spoke, NSGs, Azure Firewall, private endpoints, DNS.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes and policy-as-code approaches.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the Azure landing zone aligned to CAF design areas.
• Own Terraform Cloud setup end-to-end: state, variables, runs, remote state strategy.
• Configure networking and firewall rules per hub-spoke topology and security requirements.
• Define and codify cloud-native software engineering practices and processes.
• Establish policy-as-code guardrails for automated governance on every plan.
• Build the CI/CD pipeline for infrastructure changes with gating and approvals.
• Help stand up shift-left scanning and security baselines (Defender for Cloud, Log Analytics).
• Coordinate Entra ID architecture with identity/security and network teams.
• Set technical standards for module structure, versioning, and code reviews.
