Job summary

Acron Aviation is seeking a Specialist, Software Engineering Functional Lead to guide a team of avionics software engineers while contributing as a software engineer on programs. This role interfaces with the project lead and program management for planning, design, and testing of avionics Transponders, RF and sensor-based systems.

The successful candidate will own technical execution, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in a safety-critical environment,

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of experience developing real time embedded software.
• Experience leading and managing execution of processes, projects, tactics, and team members.
• Experience with DO-178 development is highly desired.
• Experience with C programming language.
• Knowledge of engineering design standards for the commercial aviation industry.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Must meet U.S. export control eligibility (U.S. Person).

Responsibilities

• Accountable for software engineering tasks for Surveillance development projects in a dynamic environment.
• Coordinate with offshore engineers and partner suppliers.
• Partner with Product Owners, Project Leads, and Systems Engineering to manage priorities and dependencies.
• Remove impediments and drive predictable execution aligned with program milestones.
• Track and communicate delivery metrics (plan vs actuals, throughput, risk burndown).
• Review outputs and provide direction on process compliance.
• Drive improvements to processes, systems, and solutions; set goals for the team.
• Influence adoption of AI and automation tools within the software lifecycle.
