Job summary

Acron Aviation in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Specialist, Software Engineering Functional Lead to guide a team of avionics software engineers and contribute technically on programs. You will interface with project leadership, while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering on transponders and RF/sensor systems.

The role focuses on leading software deliverables, ensuring schedule, quality, and integration, and advancing automation and AI within safety-critical contexts.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 4+ years of experience developing real time embedded software.
• Experience leading and managing execution of processes, projects, tactics, and people.
• DO-178 development experience highly desired.
• Experience with C programming language.
• Knowledge of aviation design standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork.
• Eligible to meet U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. Person.

Responsibilities

• Lead software engineering tasks for Surveillance projects in a dynamic environment.
• Coordinate with offshore engineers and partner suppliers.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Project Leads, and Systems Engineering.
• Remove impediments and drive predictable execution per milestones.
• Track delivery metrics and ensure process compliance.
• Suggest improvements to processes and tools; influence AI and automation adoption.
