Job summary

Acron Aviation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the Surveillance product line to guide development and testing of avionics systems from concept to certification. You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with DO-178C and aerospace standards, and mentor engineers while shaping long-term architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Significant experience developing safety-critical embedded software within aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
• Experience leading software development efforts with technical direction across engineering teams.
• Experience supporting software certification activities and DO-178C compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Action-oriented, results-driven, and able to drive issues to root cause.
• Ability to influence technical direction across a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

• Interface with project leadership on all aspects of the software lifecycle and represent the organization in customer meetings and technical reviews.
• Provide technical leadership for software development activities while ensuring DO-178C compliance.
• Serve as primary technical authority for software-related certification activities and regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous process improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Influence strategies for incorporating AI technologies into the software lifecycle.
• Lead software estimation activities and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Lead and contribute to RCCA investigations and field issue resolutions.
• Support audits of software development processes and lifecycle data.
• Mentor engineers and foster technical excellence and collaboration.
• Represent software engineering in reviews, planning, and risk assessments.
• Anticipate challenges, develop innovative solutions, and influence long-term software architecture.
• Ensure software deliverables meet program cost, schedule, quality, and certification objectives.
• Collaborate across software, systems, hardware, quality, and certification teams.
