Job summary

Canyon AeroConnect is seeking a Service Technician Lead – Radio (Electronics/Avionics) to coordinate daily service technician activities, provide technical direction, and ensure compliance with FAA Part 145.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting of avionics and radio systems, mentoring technicians, and leading continuous improvement initiatives using TOC and Lean principles; strong FAA knowledge, tooling, and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years avionics/electronics troubleshooting, repair, testing, or installation; 1–2 years technical leadership.
• FAA A&P or Repairman certificate preferred or obtainable within a set timeframe.
• Knowledge of FAA Parts 43 and 145.
• Electronics theory, schematics, hardware, diagnostics, and test equipment.
• Soldering and surface-mount component repair.
• Strong troubleshooting, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize work and mentor technicians.
• Willingness to apply TOC, Lean, Takt Time, and bottleneck management.
• Computer proficiency; FCC license preferred.
• English reading/writing/speaking proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Monitor repair, testing, and certification workflows to identify constraints.
• Prioritize resources and assignments to maximize throughput.
• Recommend improvements to tooling, training, staffing, and processes.
• Verify maintenance, alterations, inspections, and documentation per FAA Parts 43/145.
• Verify technicians use current OEM manuals, Service Bulletins, and FAA data.
• Support proper component tagging, work packages, and maintenance documentation.
• Assign and prioritize daily work based on qualifications and workload.
• Perform complex troubleshooting, calibration, testing, and repair of avionics/electronic equipment.
• Provide technical direction, training, coaching, and mentoring to technicians.
• Promote OSHA, FOD, ESD, quality, and shop safety requirements.
• Provide day-to-day work direction without direct supervisory authority.
• Coordinate availability of parts, tooling, and calibrated equipment.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve equipment, calibration, capability, and workflow constraints.
