Job summary

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) seeks an Automotive Mechanic Advanced Journey/Lead at the Fairbanks shop to maintain light duty equipment used in road and airfield projects. You’ll diagnose, repair, and service transmissions, engines, suspension, and electrical systems, with potential travel to remote locations.

Qualifications include knowledge of machines and tools, vehicle maintenance, and the ability to read manuals; willingness to attend factory schools

• Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including repair and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Professionally maintain all light duty equipment and vehicles used for road and airfield projects.
• Diagnose, maintain, repair, and modify transmission/drive trains, suspension, engines, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Identify parts, order from manuals, document time and materials on workorders.
• Attend factory-authorized schools to apply learned techniques.
