Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a skilled Technician to diagnose drivability and electrical systems, while leading a team to deliver outstanding customer care. The role involves educating customers on repairs, mentoring junior staff, and staying current with automotive technology.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of diagnostic experience, and ASE certifications (A4, A5 plus at least two from A1/A6/A7/A8/L1). A Section 609 certificate and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3+ years of strong automotive diagnostic, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4 or more ASE certifications are preferred (A4, A5 and two from A1, A6, A7, A8, L1).
• Section 609 certification required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brake/hydraulic, exhaust, ignition, electrical, suspension, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Perform duties of lower technician levels as needed.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and staff.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques in training sessions.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management informed of repair issues as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
