Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Principal Tester to lead a team of testers and drive automation‑first practices across the specialty ecosystem. You will guide hands‑on testing while mentoring others and setting the technical direction for automation adoption across claims platforms.

You will own testing quality for platform releases, coach staff, and coordinate with product and engineering leaders to balance scope, risk, and timelines. This role is Maryland‑based and leadership focused.

Qualifications

Experience owning direction or supervising a testing team.
Hands‑on automation using coded and/or codeless tools.
Experience with test orchestration tools/workflows or automation platforms.
Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies.
Excellent problem solving and communication to prioritize across teams.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of testers, elevating skills in manual and automated testing.
Set and communicate automation strategy for system deliveries, prioritizing manual to automated coverage.
Own testing quality outcomes for platform releases and negotiate scope/timeline tradeoffs.
Train team members on automation tooling and codify best practices as automation evolves.
Coordinate cross‑functional initiatives and align testing plans with release schedules.
