Job summary

Esterline develops automation systems for production, enhancing precision, safety and quality. As Lead Designer of Automation Systems, you will direct automation tooling for new and existing products used in manufacturing environments.

You will collaborate with Program Management, R&D, Engineering and Management to justify capital expenditures, prepare ROI analyses and define detailed infrastructure plans. The role requires strong PLC/HMI skills and the ability to guide cross-functional teams

Qualifications

Solid understanding of PLC and HMI programming.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems.
Creative and self-motivated individual with attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and handle ambiguity.

Responsibilities

Lead Designer of Automation Systems and tooling for new and existing products for production.
Assist with automation, controls, electrical, and mechanical expertise for automation of production equipment.
Coordinate with Program Managers, R&D, Engineering for infrastructure improvements and ROI justifications.
Schedule and coordinate cross-group projects for bids, studies and internal funded work.
Improve and redesign equipment to increase production program efficiency.
Prepare cost estimates and statements of works for tooling and equipment.
Oversee make/buy decisions and the design/build of outsourced systems.
Supervise installation of equipment and tooling; support maintenance and quality.
Stay current with new technologies and investigate potential applications.
