Job summary

Carvana seeks a Lead Mechanic to directly manage and develop a team of hourly associates in an Inspection Center, driving production targets and quality standards.

You will oversee daily operations, coach staff, and collaborate with the Inspection Center GM to decide repairs based on cost and vehicle quality. The role requires enforcing safety and lean principles while maintaining high-volume, high-quality output.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with Carvana’s reconditioning processes or lean principles preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a varied environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center safely and to production/quality goals.
• Oversee day-to-day activities of the assigned team; identify strengths/weaknesses and improve accordingly.
• Provide coaching, development and performance management to team members; maintain clear expectations and goals.
• Lead a team of production associates and collaborate with the Inspection Center GM on repairs based on cost and quality.
• Identify and complete repairs efficiently the first time to minimize rework and delays.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules, procedures, and Carvana values.
