Columbia University Facilities & Operations seeks an A/V Manager to provide operational leadership for all technical audio/visual services at assigned locations, ensuring a customer-focused service delivery and daily maintenance of events. The role directs technical support for events and oversees equipment, procedures, and budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • At least two years of related experience.
  • Supervisory experience with workflow planning and scheduling preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Computer literate; proficient in Word and Excel; data management familiarity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Technical Services support for assigned events. Responsible for coordinating and scheduling all audio-visual services for assigned events.
  • Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Technical Services, establishes procedures, standards and practices for the operation and maintenance of Event Management’s complex technical inventory of AV equipment, sound and light equipment to ensure customer-focused service delivery.
  • Adheres to the operating budget for maintenance, repair and replacement of technical equipment.
  • Creates and implements standardized procedures to protect assets, control expenses, and ensure internal controls.
  • Collaborates with Event Management team to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Interacts effectively with the University community including staff management, campus departments, student organizations, and the general public.
  • Develops relationships with people from public areas to maintain a customer-friendly environment.
  • Engages in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
