Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Audio Manager to supervise studio and field audio production, overseeing 5 broadcast studios, 2 audio studios, and multiple venues. The role requires expertise with Dante, NDI, and AV networking, plus strong problem-solving and teamwork.

You will work with the LAITS Studio team to ensure facilities are operational for productions, train junior engineers, and coordinate with clients to deliver high-quality audio experiences.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience in the field of audio.
  • 2 years of experience working in audio studios, broadcast studios, or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of audio equipment, including mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, and peripherals.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Experience with AoIP technology.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong team-oriented approach, fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Working knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to event production and production-related equipment.
  • Proficiency in Slack, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
  • Experience in setting goals, supervising projects, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation of studio and field audio production needs. Lead audio engineer on studio and location productions, including preproduction, planning and implementation.
  • Project manage A/V productions and facilitate client communication and satisfaction, including estimates, planning, scheduling, and invoicing.
  • Research, manage, implement, and maintain audio technology for all studios in LAITS.
  • Assist with development and implementation of studio/field production processes, workflows, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Provide training on all aspects of audio production and technology for Student Technology Assistants.
  • Maintain studio infrastructure and equipment inventory, diagnose problems, troubleshoot solutions, and ensure studios run daily.
