Job summary

Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) at The University of Texas at Austin seeks an Audio Engineer to manage audio infrastructure for multiple studios and events. You will lead live and post productions, ensure operations, and collaborate with a production team.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in audio, strong knowledge of equipment, AoIP, and client communication. The role requires onsite work on UT Austin's campus with opportunities for growth and teaching junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience in the field of audio.
  • 2 years of experience working in audio studios, broadcast studios, or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of audio equipment including mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, and peripherals.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Experience with AoIP technology.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong team-oriented approach, fostering collaboration and effective communication across departments.
  • Proficiency with Slack, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom.
  • Experience in setting goals, supervising projects, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operation of studio and field audio production needs; lead on studio and location productions; mix and master in post-production as needed.
  • Project manage A/V productions; handle estimates, planning, scheduling, and invoicing.
  • Research, manage, implement, and maintain audio technology for all LAITS studios.
  • Develop and implement studio and field production processes, workflows, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Provide training on all aspects of audio production for Student Technology Assistants.
  • Maintain studio infrastructure and equipment inventory; diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Assist the LAITS field crew with planning and implementing solutions for events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
