Job summary

Boston University’s Howard Thurman Center seeks an Associate Director for Programs and Community Engagement to translate the Center’s mission into meaningful educational experiences and strong community ties on campus.

The role provides leadership and administrative oversight for educational programming, dialogue initiatives, leadership development, civic engagement, and cross-campus partnerships, reporting to the Director and collaborating with HTC staff to advance inclusive student engagement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a related field such as Higher Education, Student Affairs, Leadership, Education, or Public Administration.
• 5-7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education, student affairs, or community engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships across complex organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Howard Thurman Center's educational programming and civic engagement initiatives.
• Develop annual program priorities and oversee implementation of the center's portfolio.
• Manage staff performance, development, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Assess program effectiveness and student learning outcomes to inform improvements.
• Represent the Center on university committees and with external partners.
