Job summary

Principal Asset Management is seeking an Associate Actuary to join our Variable Annuity team leading Financial Reporting in Des Moines, IA. You will direct monthly GAAP and Statutory reporting for traditional variable annuity and RILA products, guiding actuarial methods and forecasting efforts.

You’ll collaborate across actuarial, accounting, and finance partners, oversee VM21/VM31 regulatory processes, and mentor a growing team while advancing risk management and cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and actuarial standards of practice.
• Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or equivalent, or Enrolled Actuary required.
• Basic knowledge of traditional variable annuities or RILAs, GAAP, and Statutory financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a team in monthly GAAP and Statutory reporting for traditional variable annuity and RILA products.
• Apply actuarial analysis to support calculations and recommendations.
• Perform VM21 regulatory reporting and VM31 reserve requirements and audit correspondence.
