Responsibilities

Technical & Actuarial Valuation

  • Lead the valuation and forecasting of life and annuity reserves using actuarial modeling platforms (e.g., Moody’s AXIS) across US GAAP (including LDTI) and statutory bases.
  • Oversee preparation of actuarial analyses, model runs, reserve reconciliations, and validation efforts; ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with actuarial standards of practice.
  • Review and recommend assumption changes; monitor experience trends and emerging risks.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of actuarial professionals, setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and promoting professional growth.
  • Allocate team resources effectively to meet valuation deadlines, reporting timelines, and operational goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with finance and accounting to support reserve reporting, quarterly/annual filings, and strategic forecasts.
  • Coordinate with product, risk, and compliance stakeholders to align valuation methodologies with business strategies and regulatory requirements.

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Identify opportunities to streamline actuarial processes, enhance modeling efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards (e.g., actuarial guidelines, state insurance regulations).

Communication & Reporting

  • Prepare and present technical analyses and recommendations to senior management and cross-functional partners.
  • Support regulatory responses and actuarial disclosure requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, or related quantitative field.
  • ASA or FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5–8+ years of actuarial experience in life and annuity valuation or related fields; including experience with actuarial models like AXIS or equivalent tools.
  • Proven leadership experience guiding actuarial teams, project delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of actuarial standards, regulatory frameworks, and financial reporting under US GAAP and statutory accounting.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and communication skills to explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Deep experience with life and annuity products, including indexed annuities and living benefits.
  • Prior experience with valuation standard frameworks (e.g., VM-22, VM-31).
  • Expertise in process automation, data analysis, and actuarial workflow optimization.
  • Experience interacting with regulators and external auditors.
