We are hiring a Lead Assembler to join our team!
This position will be responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of a section of the shop, ensuring smooth workflow, quality production, and adherence to safety standards. The shop lead will be expected to perform assembly (direct labor) on a daily basis, but also be responsible for coordinating their team in alignment with the greater business unit. This will include allocating work assignments, training new personnel, coordinating with shop management and other leads in the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Work Coordination: Coordinate daily work assignments and prioritize tasks based on production schedules, deadlines, and customer requirements. Assign responsibilities to team members and monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
- Quality Control: Monitor work quality and inspect finished products or components to ensure they meet specifications, standards, and customer expectations. Provide feedback and guidance to team members to maintain high-quality output.
- Training and Development: Train new hires and provide ongoing training to existing team members on proper work techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards. Identify training needs and opportunities for skills development.
- Workflow Optimization: Streamline workflow processes and implement efficiency improvements to maximize productivity and minimize waste. Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and propose solutions for optimization.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels of materials, supplies, and equipment needed for production. Coordinate with procurement or supply chain teams to ensure adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a safe working environment for all shop personnel. Conduct regular safety inspections, address safety concerns, and provide safety training to team members.
- Communication: Serve as a liaison between shop personnel, management, and other departments. Communicate production goals, performance expectations, and company policies to team members. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the shop.
- Problem Solving: Address any issues or challenges that arise during production, such as equipment malfunctions, material shortages, or personnel issues. Troubleshoot problems, implement solutions, and escalate issues as needed to resolve them promptly.
