Job summary

Fulton County Library System is seeking a Central Library Archivist to lead archival services at the Central Library in Atlanta. The role manages staff, oversees processing, preservation, and access to historical materials, and develops finding aids and exhibit materials.

The position requires a Master’s degree and at least three years of archival experience, including two years in supervision, with possible certification and a Georgia Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in history, humanities, library science or related field.
• Three years of archival experience in a library, museum, or related setting, including two years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates assigned staff; manages staffing, schedules and performance.
• Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work to meet objectives; provides resources and guidance to staff.
• Manages collections: processing, describing, preserving, classifying and referencing archival materials.
• Cultivates donors of personal papers and historical documents to expand archival holdings.
• Maintains descriptive inventories and finding aids; coordinates use of technology for retrieval of archival information.
• Develops and monitors program budget and collaborates with partners to support revenue.
