Job summary

Wellmark Technology seeks a seasoned Enterprise Data Center Architect to lead incubation of architecture capabilities, guiding discovery through production handoff. You will partner with engineering, security, operations, and product teams to align experiments with enterprise standards while driving scalable, secure infrastructure.

The role emphasizes disciplined innovation, governance of incubation, and transitioning proven capabilities into enterprise services; travel up to 5% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience in an IT environment with a minimum of 7 years of architecture experience.
• Formal leadership skills from leading work teams, coaching, mentoring, and facilitating.
• Proven experience leading architecture teams and transitioning to production-ready capabilities.
• Experience with architecture in SAFe environments and Lean-Agile.
• Strong ability to translate long-range technology goals into incubations and roadmaps.
• Excellent consulting, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Travel required up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a focus on disciplined innovation and empowered teams; mentor architects through experiments and proofs of concept.
• Build and govern a data center architecture incubation practice with stage gates and clear success criteria.
• Guide evaluation of emerging infrastructure, hybrid cloud, platform, network, and data approaches; ensure reproducible learnings.
• Oversee development of reference architectures, patterns, guardrails, and operational readiness criteria.
• Create reliable transitions from incubation to enterprise capabilities, defining ownership and adoption plans.
• Incubate modern data and integration capabilities at the platform level with security and reliability in mind.
• Maintain an active pipeline of architecture experiments and share outcomes for learning.
• Manage incubation resources, budgeting, vendor participation, and portfolio reporting.
• Other duties as assigned.
