Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking a Project Officer based in Andover to lead large, complex fieldwork projects and manage field teams. You will ensure timely, on-budget delivery and high-quality archaeological recording, reporting and archives.

The role requires driving and willingness to travel for away projects with provided accommodation; CSCS is desirable or must be attained. Salary scales shown apply to the role across the UK.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and expertise in archaeology across Britain.
• Experience supervising large fieldwork projects (excavations & evaluations).
• Ability to write clear fieldwork reports, stratigraphic accounts and summaries.
• Strong communication and leadership to train and direct staff.
• Understanding of budgets and project timescales within commercial archaeology.
• Good Health and Safety knowledge and compliance.
• Full manual driving licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead archaeological direction and site management of large, complex projects.
• Line manage and develop staff with performance reviews and training.
• Assure quality of site records and archives to required standards.
• Author fieldwork reports and summaries efficiently and accurately.
• Provide regular progress reports on budget, logistics and safety to Project Managers.
• Ensure administrative records and timesheets are properly completed.
• Promote public awareness of CA through publications, website, and media.
