Job summary
WestLand is seeking a full-time Archaeology Field Director to join our Cultural Resources team in New Mexico. The role involves leading archaeological fieldwork, supervising crews, and ensuring documentation and reporting meet regulatory standards.
Per diem and single-occupancy lodging are provided for out-of-town projects. Ideal candidates have a graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, or an undergraduate degree with substantial relevant experience, plus two years of supervisory work in
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field; or undergraduate degree with additional years of experience.
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience as a cultural resource professional in the American Southwest.
- Must be listed in the NM SHPO Archaeology Directory as Supervisory Archaeologist/Crew Chief.
- Experience in New Mexico and writing technical archaeological reports.
Responsibilities
- Lead archaeological fieldwork (survey, testing, monitoring, data recovery).
- Supervise field crews; record artifacts, map features/sites, maintain records.
- Process and catalog artifacts to lab specs.
- File and scan records and paperwork.
- Complete record searches and write technical reports.
