Job summary

WestLand Engineering and Environmental Services, a Trinity Consultants team, seeks an Archaeology Field Director to lead cultural resources projects across New Mexico. The role involves directing field surveys, supervising crews, and ensuring documentation compliance, with lodging for longer assignments.

The candidate will have graduate-level archaeology/anthropology credentials, NM experience, and proven report-writing skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (or related field) required or equivalent combination.
• Minimum of two years supervisory experience as cultural resource professional in the American Southwest.
• Must be listed in NM SHPO Archaeology Directory as at least Supervisory Archaeologist/Crew Chief.
• Previous NM work experience required.
• Experience writing technical archaeological reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate archaeological fieldwork (survey, testing, monitoring, data recovery).
• Supervise field crews to record artifacts, map sites, and maintain records.
• Process and catalog artifacts to lab specs.
• File and scan records and paperwork.
• Complete record searches and write technical reports.
