Job summary

State of Wyoming's Wyoming Military Department seeks a Senior Archaeologist. Based at Camp Guernsey, you will manage day-to-day prehistoric and historic operations, supervise seasonal crews, and coordinate with SHPO, Tribal offices, and other agencies to ensure compliance with NHPA.

Role involves field surveys, testing, excavation, report writing, and training Camp Guernsey staff and the public to advance agency goals.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Archaeology.
• 1–2 years progressive archaeologist experience; field crew supervision.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of GPS and GIS.
• Knowledge of military training impacts on cultural resources.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fieldwork at Camp Guernsey to support the agency mission.
• Independently manage day-to-day cultural resource fieldwork and logistics.
• Supervise seasonal AWECs and review consultant reports.
• Assist with outreach and consultations with SHPO and Tribes.
