Job summary

LangChain in New York, NY is seeking a Lead Applied AI Engineer to guide technical projects end to end and mentor fellow engineers in a fast-moving startup environment. You will design and ship complex agentic systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, translating customer needs into scalable AI workflows.

This onsite role requires a hands-on leader who thrives on hard problems with LangChain and LangGraph.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering with LLMs in production.
• Experience leading technical projects end to end and mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on evaluation/monitoring systems for agents/workflows.
• Deep understanding of prompting, retrieval, orchestration, inference APIs, and model selection.
• Strong coding skills in Python or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy end-to-end AI workflows and agents.
• Develop agent architectures, evaluation pipelines, and performance frameworks.
• Set the technical bar for code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
• Work with customers and stakeholders to translate requirements into plans.
• Identify tooling gaps and drive enhancements.
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, GTM, Recruiting, or Product.
