Job summary

DTCC is seeking a Lead Application Support Engineer in Coppell, TX to maintain and support production applications, collaborate with development teams, and drive incident resolution with an emphasis on automation and resilience.

The role requires hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, IBM messaging/bus platforms, scripting, cloud, and ITIL processes, with a focus on reducing outages and improving observability across the environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with several years of experience in application support or engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Java/J2EE and integration/messaging platforms, and scripting in Linux/Windows environments.
• Experience with cloud and container platforms, ITIL processes, and audit/compliance readiness.

Responsibilities

• Verify analysis by team members and implement changes to prevent recurrence of incidents.
• Resolve critical application alerts including production defects with impact analysis.
• Update knowledge articles and runbooks with development teams to keep information current.
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide answers to application issues and escalations.
• Respond to information requests from ongoing audits and ensure BCM evidence during outages.
• Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual monitoring effort.
• Partner with development teams on design and deployment plans for applications.
• Lead end-to-end vendor application upgrade processes and pre-prod/production deployments.

Lead Application Support Engineer

The Development family is responsible for crafting, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions. May include research, new development, prototyping, modification, reuse, re‑engineering, maintenance, or any other activities related to software products used internally or externally on product platforms supported by the firm. The software development process requires in-depth domain expertise in existing and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages. Software Developers work closely with business partners and / or external clients in defining requirements and implementing solutions.

The Lead Application Support Engineering role specializes in maintaining and providing technical support for all applications that are beyond the development stage and are running in the daily operations of the firm. Works closely with development teams, infrastructure partners, and internal / external clients to raise and resolve technical support incidents.

Primary Responsibilities

• Verify analysis performed by team members and implement changes required to prevent reoccurrence of incidents
• Resolve Critical application alerts in a timely fashion including production defects, providing business impact and analysis to teams, handling minor improvements as needed
• Review and update knowledge articles and runbooks with application development teams to confirm information is up to date
• Collaborate with internal teams to provide answers to application issues and escape to as needed
• Validate and submit responses to requests for information from ongoing audits
• Review and Implement Disaster Recovery scripts during planned and unplanned outages, providing BCM evidence as needed
• Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual effort associated with application monitoring
• Partner with development teams to provide input into the design and development stages of applications
• Implement the pre-production/production application code deployment plans and end to end vendor application upgrade process (e.g. SNOW, SF, etc)
• Aligns risk and control processes into day to day responsibilities to supervise and mitigate risk; escalates appropriately

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (any), Technology Management or related field and 6 years of experience in the job or related position OR a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering (any), Technology Management or related field and 4 years of experience in the job or related position.

Prior education, training or experience to include

• Key Technologies requirements: Java/J2EE, IBM Integration Bus/IBM ACE, IBM WebSphere Message Queue, Linux/Windows Scripting, Splunk, Bitbucket/Jira/Git, Database Querying, SNOW/ITIL, Autosys, OpenShift Container Platform
• Key Platform experience: Linux/Unix, AWS
• Domain knowledge: Finance and Securities

LOCATION : Coppell, TX. Telecommuting may be permitted a few days a week. When not telecommuting, must report to DTCC's office in Coppell, TX.
