Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Lead Appian Software Developer for a hybrid role based in Downtown DC. You will act as the technical anchor for a federal HR systems modernization project, guiding a small Agile team while remaining hands-on in Appian development.

The role requires active Secret clearance, 7-10+ years of software development, and strong experience with Appian SAiL interfaces and process models. This is a contract position with onsite emphasis during ramp and a hybrid setup in the DMV

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of software development experience with prior technical lead exposure.
• Active Secret clearance is required for this role.
• Strong Appian experience including SAIL interfaces and process models (preferred).
• Experience reviewing code and designs, managing integrations, and mentoring developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical build of native Appian applications, including process models, interfaces, and integrations.
• Set development standards, code quality expectations, and integration patterns for the team.
• Review team members' work to identify and resolve issues proactively, minimizing rework.
• Support complex troubleshooting and ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable.
• Collaborate with the solution architect on design decisions and deployment readiness.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and demos as the technical lead.
• Mentor and guide other developers within the team, fostering growth and best practices.
• Remain hands-on with Appian development, contributing code and technical expertise daily.
