Job summary

System One, Inc. is seeking a Lead API Developer to drive design, development, and support of enterprise-scale APIs and backend services across Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Dallas with a hybrid onsite/remote model.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in Java/J2EE, extensive Spring Boot and microservices experience, and 8+ years in REST/SOAP services. You will mentor engineers, steer API standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Java/J2EE development experience.
• 8+ years of RESTful and/or SOAP web services development.
• 5+ years of Angular, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• 5+ years of GitHub, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with Release Management and production deployment.

We are seeking a Lead API Developer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices to lead the design, development, and support of enterprise-scale APIs and backend services. This role will provide technical leadership, mentor developers, and drive best practices across API development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, and backend applications
• Lead API development efforts and provide technical mentorship to team members

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee
• Knowledge of DevOps and deployment automation tools
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams
