Job summary

Vital Medical Transport is looking for a Lead Fleet Technician in Memphis, TN. This hands-on leadership role combines diagnostic work with team direction, ensuring ambulances and fleet vehicles are ready for the next call.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain vehicles, while mentoring other mechanics and coordinating shop priorities. A strong background in gas/diesel engines and ASE/EVT certifications is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience as a mechanic with gas/diesel engines and fleet maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to lead and mentor a small shop team.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on ambulances and fleet vehicles.
• Coordinate installation of specialty equipment (oxygen/medical air systems, radios, GPS, cameras).
• Prioritize repair work and provide technical guidance to mechanics.
• Respond to breakdowns and get vehicles back in service quickly and safely.
• Maintain maintenance records, parts inventory, and shop equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, well-run shop and model safety practices.
