Job summary

Solitude Ski & Ride School in Solitude, Utah, seeks a Head Alpine Race Coach to organize training for coaches and athletes within the Solitude Race Team. You will design seasonal curriculums and mentor staff to deliver high-quality training for USSA competitions.

Responsibilities include on-snow coaching for U10–FIS, coordinating with parents and coaches, and developing progression plans. Requires Level 2 USSA certification, safety focus, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Availability throughout winter including evenings, weekends, and holidays from September through April.
• Advanced skiing skills and knowledge.
• Experience coaching winter sports; familiarity with US Ski and Snowboard methodologies.
• Excellent people skills communicating with athletes, parents, coaches and staff.
• Ability to design seasonal training plans and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Teams department operations and report to Teams Manager.
• Train and mentor coaches.
• Conduct athlete assessments and assist coaches with grouping.
• Provide weekly, monthly and season-long training plan.
• On-snow coaching of the Race Team, U10 up to FIS-level athletes and managing effective athlete groupings.
• Work with the competition crew to set and maintain training or competitive lanes and venues.
• Equipment supervision (drills, fencing, gates, radios) and maintaining records (liability releases, race forms, USSA memberships, travel expenses).
• Assist athletes in registering for events and communicate with parents, athletes and resort management.
• Provide feedback and coaching daily to athletes, maintain lesson plans and logs, and submit year-end evaluations.
• Travel may be required for races or competitions; company vehicles will be used and expense records maintained.
