Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a technically accomplished leader to guide the GEnx Powerplant eEngineering Team within the Integrated Operations Division. You’ll mentor engineers, drive complex dispositions, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while advancing fleet maintenance programs.

The role requires a engineering degree and substantial airline experience, with strong Lean Six Sigma knowledge and a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary projects and communicate across teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
• 5 years of job related experience in an airline environment.
• Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
• 10 years of experience in an airline environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Senior Engineering Manager in assigning, supporting, training, mentoring and reviewing activities of Engineers.
• Utilizes high levels of technical expertise and extensive practical experience to disposition highly complex technical concerns.
• Develops customized procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing and other maintenance actions which are not adequately addressed in existing manuals.
• Investigates aircraft/component problems which may cause aircraft delays or cancellations, substantial expenditures in manpower or materials, or interruptions in maintenance operations, and determines appropriate corrective actions.
• Develops action plans for fleet/multi-fleet and/or component engineering projects and pursues final dispositions according to assessed priorities.
• Maintains knowledge of current and pending regulations, which affect areas of responsibility and ensures that all Engineering actions maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Utilizes available resources to continually increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience. Also strives to improve communications skills, time management and other personal qualities pertinent to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties.
• Develops procedures and special criteria for repairs, modifications, inspections, servicing and other maintenance actions
• Monitor daily operations and operational trends to identify and resolve items impacting the operation of the airplanes.
