Asana is seeking a Technical Lead for the AI Teammates Platform in San Francisco, bridging frontier AI with enterprise-grade software. You’ll own technical strategy, architecture, and execution, partnering with model providers and cross-functional teams to scale to millions of users.

Qualifications

6+ years of software engineering with backend or reliability focus.
2+ years leading teams or as a tech lead, with strategy and risk management.
Experience or strong interest in Applied AI / Agentic Systems and model evaluation.
Ability to quickly learn new contexts and unblock teammates.

Responsibilities

Set the technical strategy for the AI Teammates Platform, APIs, and orchestration.
Drive reliability, scalable architecture, and evaluation methodologies across teams.
Mentor engineers and help them grow while maintaining high velocity.
Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and external model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic).
Oversee initiatives from proactivity and MCP integrations to latency tuning and cost optimization.
