Dialpad seeks an experienced product leader to own the AI model lifecycle for SLMs, ASR, and real-time inference. You will work with engineers and researchers to shape data strategy, evaluation, and roadmaps while balancing latency, cost, and performance.

You will translate model-quality questions into concrete criteria, write decision docs, and align cross‑functional teams around outcomes. California-based role with strong growth potential.

Qualifications

• Built or run models in production (trained, fine-tuned, served, or optimized).
• Experience with SLMs, ASR, and real-time inference behind products.
• A CS/ML degree alone does not count; must show model experience.
• Clear opinions on eval design and deployment trade-offs.
• Ability to defend viewpoints with evidence.

Responsibilities

• Own product direction across the full model lifecycle for SLMs, ASR, and real-time inference.
• Own the data strategy: acquisition, consent, usage rights, sampling, annotation.
• Turn ambiguous model-quality questions into decisions and defined success.
• Evaluate failures from conversations; form hypotheses before teams share theirs.
• Treat internal teams as customers of the model stack across GTM and product.
• Make trade-off calls between quality, latency, and cost; choose build/learn/buy.
• Write direction memos, decision docs, and specs read by engineers.
• Lead release and rollback decisions for model ships.
• Define the roadmap for models and decide what to deprecate.
• Prioritize data acquisition, annotation, and labeling investments.
• Define what good enough means for ASR/SLM releases and how measured.
