Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks a Lead Software Engineer with 7+ years of experience to join a high-caliber product team building an AI-powered financial assistant platform. You will work with global institutional clients and business users to test, refine, and deploy chat interfaces, reporting systems, and bespoke tools into core investment workflows.

You will be part of a small elite team of hands-on engineers in an autonomous startup-like environment with zero legacy code, directly shaping a cutting-edge

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with senior/lead autonomy
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or React (TypeScript)
• Note: willingness to learn Python if primary background is not Python
• Experience with FastAPI, AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform
• Frontend knowledge with TS/JavaScript, React, Next.js or Node
• Proficiency with AI-assisted software development tools and coding agents
• Experience with AI evaluation, automated testing, regression testing and production monitoring
• Understanding of AI security, data privacy, guardrails, and safe handling of sensitive information
• Ability to optimize applications for quality, latency, reliability, and cost
• High autonomy, strong product judgment, startup-ready attitude

Responsibilities

• Architect and build next-generation AI-powered financial assistance workflows and interfaces
• Translate high-level problems into system designs and production implementations
• Integrate and optimize AI applications for quality, latency, reliability, and cost
• Maintain high standards for software quality, security, and data privacy
• Leverage AI-assisted programming methods while reviewing AI-generated code
• Oversee AI evaluation, test datasets, regression testing, and production monitoring
• Navigate AI security, access controls, and guardrails
• Learn and adopt new technologies as the AI ecosystem evolves
