EPAM Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Lead AI Engineer to architect and deliver AI-powered financial assistance workflows and custom chat and reporting interfaces for an institutional AI assistant platform.

You will translate high-level problem definitions into actionable requirements and independently deliver production-ready AI solutions with a focus on quality, latency, reliability, and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated senior or lead autonomy.
• Proficiency in Python and/or React (TypeScript).
• If your primary background is not Python, a strong readiness to learn Python quickly.
• Experience with FastAPI (strongly desired).
• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Frontend development with TypeScript/JavaScript and React (Next.js or Node).
• Proficiency with AI-assisted software development tools and coding agents.
• Experience with AI evaluation, automated testing, regression testing, failure analysis, and production monitoring.
• Strong understanding of AI security, data privacy, guardrails, and safe handling of sensitive information.
• Ability to optimize applications for quality, latency, reliability, and cost.
• High autonomy, strong product judgment, and a startup-ready attitude.

• Anticipate edge cases, create system designs, and deliver production-ready implementations independently

• Maintain high standards for software quality, reliability, security, maintainability, and data privacy
• Use AI-assisted programming and coding agents while critically reviewing, testing, and validating AI-generated code
• Own AI evaluation and quality engineering, including automated evaluations, test datasets, regression testing, failure analysis, and production monitoring
• Support AI security and production controls, including access control, prompt-injection risk mitigation, guardrails, and auditability
• Continuously learn and adopt new technologies as the AI ecosystem evolves
