Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to advance Gen AI platform services—Agentic AI, guardrails, agent memory, and evaluation—and help reimagine how we serve customers and associates. You will architect and deliver AI software components across training, inference, governance, and observability in production at scale.

You will collaborate with engineers, researchers, TPMs, and product managers to tackle cross-functional challenges, optimize performance, and contribute to the long-term

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/AI/EE/CE plus 4+ years AI/ML experience.
• Experience with Python, Go, Scala or Java (4+ years).
• Masters degree with 2+ years AI/ML experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy AI software components and guardrails.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tech to enhance models and systems.
• Optimize performance, cost, latency, and throughput for production AI.
• Contribute to the long-term technical vision of foundational AI systems.
