Job summary

Wizards of the Coast is seeking a Lead Engineer to join our Business Systems Engineering organization. You will architect and build a platform of services on AWS, lead engineering standards, and mentor a high-performing team while driving AI-assisted development practices.

With a focus on reliability and scalable design, you will influence technical direction, collaborate with product owners, and own end-to-end decisions. Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a lead, staff, or senior+ capacity.
• Proven track record building and operating production-grade enterprise software; strong system design.
• Hands-on AI-assisted development workflows and ability to judge AI-generated code for production quality.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop a platform of services and applications on AWS that are core to our product creation platform.
• Influence and champion engineering standards across the org for effective system design.
• Lead the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling with reliable AI-accelerated delivery.
• Own technical decisions end-to-end; assess tradeoffs, align partners, and drive execution.
• Translate business challenges into scalable software solutions in partnership with product owners.
• Mentor teammates through technical direction and code/design reviews.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and building a high-performing team culture.
