Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Decision Intelligence Engineer to own the application of decision intelligence and agentic AI across the NBA platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering, ML/AI engineering, or decision intelligence experience with 1–2 years in technical leadership.
• Strong Python engineering experience building/operating production AI systems.
• Hands-on experience building agentic applications using LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar.
• Experience integrating Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI, Anthropic, or OpenAI.
• Strong understanding of Decision Intelligence concepts (modeling, optimization, automation, objectives/constraints).
• Experience implementing LLM patterns including tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, memory management, workflow orchestration.
• Experience building evaluation frameworks for AI systems (automatic evaluation, human review, metrics).
• Ability to map business processes into formal decision models and communicate to tech/non-tech stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a small engineering team while remaining hands-on.
• Strong communication skills to explain AI/decision architectures to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and operate microservices delivering action/variant metadata and context-aware policy evaluation.
• Design and maintain resilient schemas: action catalogs, versioning, and fairness.
• Integrate rules engines (DRL/DMN, OPA) for deterministic policy execution.
• Lead AI-assisted engineering with AI governance and risk management in mind.
• Collaborate with platform, data, and ML teams and mentor engineers.
