Job summary

The Carlyle Group seeks a hands-on engineering manager to lead AI and data engineering for Global Private Equity. You will design, build and operate LLM-powered tools and MCP services that bring governed portfolio data to investment teams across a Snowflake/AWS cloud platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering or data engineering, with production systems experience.
• 3+ years delivering production software used by business stakeholders.
• 2+ years leading engineering delivery, backlog ownership and coding standards.
• Strong Python and SQL knowledge; experience with C#/.NET or TypeScript.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered applications and AI tooling; development of governance and evaluation methods.
• Cloud data platforms and modern transformation tooling (Snowflake, dbt, Databricks); AWS/Azure experience.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Knowledge of data architecture, metadata, lineage and data quality; security for data and AI systems.
• Familiarity with private equity or financial services data (funds, deals, valuations) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy AI-enabled data products and agents for investment teams.
• Define evaluation criteria, latency and cost metrics for AI features.
• Ensure security, governance and auditability of data and AI services.
• Lead contract engineers and data engineers, provide code reviews and mentorship.
• Maintain governed data models, metadata and lineage for trusted reporting.
• Drive platform modernization and cloud adoption with vendor coordination.
• Foster Agile delivery in Jira and clearly communicate technical decisions.
