Job summary

The Carlyle Group seeks a hands-on engineering manager to lead AI and data engineering for Global Private Equity. You will design and operate production AI capabilities, including MCP services and integrations, on a Snowflake/AWS platform, while guiding a team of contract engineers and ensuring data governance.

Ideal candidates combine software and data depth with product judgment, turning finance workflows into reliable software and delivering secure, scalable data products for investment teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, finance or quantitative field.
• 7+ years of software/data engineering experience.
• 3+ years leading engineering delivery and mentoring.
• Strong Python and SQL; experience with C#/TypeScript.
• Hands-on with cloud data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks) and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience shipping LLM-powered apps and AI governance.
• Familiarity with private equity or financial services data is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship LLM-powered applications and AI tools.
• Define evaluation cases; ensure accuracy, cost and latency.
• Ensure security and governance in AI systems.
• Lead and mentor contract developers and data engineers.
• Oversee production AI services and data pipelines reliability.
• Collaborate with product owners; manage backlog in Jira.
• Promote CI/CD and infrastructure as code practices.
